TURNKEY DESIGN & BUILD OF A NEW RESTAURANT AND KITCHEN FOR EON, RAYLEIGH, ESSEX
EON wanted a new staff restaurant and kitchen – to serve up to 400 covers through a staggered lunch break – and they helped things on the way by removing a training room on the first floor, which opened up the restaurant to the exterior windows and an outside seating area.
The building was over 30 years old and the kitchen old and worn out, explained On Site Facilities Manager Jody Moakes. The refurbishment itself took twelve weeks in total and included new ceilings, walls, floors and lights; Altro Whiterock hygienic wall cladding was added to the walls and a new servery and grab ‘n go area was installed.

During that time, staff were fed from a temporary kitchen. The new facilities allows for a menu including sandwiches, baguettes and other snack items from the grab ‘n go refrigerated and ambient display units. Hot main courses, jacket potatoes and soups are on the hot counter with an extensive range of salad dishes available from a large refrigerated counter.
“Our staff have been very impressed with how smart the new facility is,” said Jody Moakes. “Hallmark really helped us through the process.

“During the initial discussions regarding the design and layout and, how the work would be done Hallmark listened carefully and took on board what we had to say and did not impose their ideas on us. Chris Douglas especially was brilliant and whenever we needed to discuss something or required further
“The building was still fully occupied during the refurbishment and the staff were handling customer calls as usual. It’s a tribute to Hallmark that we had so few complaints and that was down to the drilling which just had to be done.
“The work area was carefully sectioned off, so no dust or dirt got out. Hallmark’s staff also came in early to minimise disruption and worked hard through the day. They were also very pleasant and smartly dressed.
“Throughout every step of the process Hallmark advised of any problems kept us in touch with developments.”
